The Bristol Division RNVR was mobilised in 1914 and during the war, the RNVR Headquarters acted as a focal point for recruiting HO RNVRs sending groups of recruits to Crystal Palace for training. The Headquarters was under the command of Hon Commander [later Hon Captain] Ernest George Mardon.

In 1919, the Bristol Division RNVR Unit reformed in Jamaica Street moving back to HMS FLYING FOX in 1924.
