HMS UPTON (M1187) (1976 – 78)

HMS UPTON (M1187] was allocated to Severn Division RNR in 1976 arriving in Bristol in 1977 after an extended refit in Gibraltar.. A Ton Class Coastal Minesweeper with Napier Deltic engines, she was built by Thornycroft & Co, Southampton, launched 15 March 1956 and completed 25 July 1956. In 1978 she transferred to the North East Group RNR for hull sharing where she remained until 1981. From 1981 until 1983 she was in the 1st MCMS, transferring to the FPS in 1984 before being scrapped in 1991.
